My question is weather or not an 8 dia.
Carport post footing size.
Minimum specification for a carport post up to 8 feet high is 4 by 4 inches.
The footing should be about 16 x 16 or 18 dia.
That would certainly work but i am into less concrete by doing the isolated big footings the carport is 36 long x 24 wide w 12 tall columns and a 12 12 roof it is pretty grand w timber trusses 12 o c.
The footings will be set 2 5 below finished grade and i ll use simpson strong tie elevated post base anchors epb66 so that i can lay pavers on top of the footing with the pergola post resting on the anchor base at the finished grade of the patio.
Set a simpson epb44 in the new footing to accept the bottom of the post.
They should be at least 101 inches long.
Footing systems on expansive soil shall be constructed in a manner that will minimize damage to the structure from movement of the soil.
Depending on size of carport you may need to have one additional support post at the halfway mark on both the left and right sides for a total of six.
2 lengths of 4 1 2 rebar at 90ยบ in the footing 4 total.
Supporting the ridge beam thanks.
You could use a slightly too long 4x4 to wedge up the end of the beam to relieve the pressure on the post.
A carport s post size will vary depending on the height of structure.
For a roof six foot five inches your posts should be six feet five inches plus the 24 inches of the post that will be planted.
The simple answer is there is no standard size of footing provided to anchor a carport into the ground.
The width or diameter can vary from 350mm wide to 600mm wide with the depth varying from 750mm to 1 5m and more.
Footing is truly sufficient.
Use a power auger or post hole digger to dig post holes of about two to four feet deep for the footings.
Taller posts of up to 10 feet high must be at least 6 by 6 inches.
Leave extra length to be sure you have enough.
Attached carports can use the supporting structure as framing for one of the sides.
How big the footings or foundations are depends on several factors.
Depth of footings below the natural and finished grades shall not be less than 24 inches for exterior and 18 inches for interior footings.
